For all procedures - Leave all jewelry at home. You may wear cotton socks and a cotton sports bra without hooks.
Take a list of all medications with you the day of your procedure including the name, dose and how many times a day you take it.
If you take heart, seizure, blood pressure or oral breathing medications, take them about 6:00 am with a sip of water.
If you use inhalers, insulin or take oral medicine for diabetes, take the medicine with you.
The Facility where you are having your procedure will call you the day before the exam to tell you what time to arrive for the test.
You will be administered sedation to make your test more comfortable. You must have someone with you who can drive you home. You should not drive a car, operate machinery or ingest alcohol for 24 hours after sedation.
If you take any type of BLOOD THINNER (a few examples are ASPIRIN 325 MG, PLAVIX, COUMADIN, EFFIENT, PRADAXA, XARELTO) we may contact your CARDIOLOGIST AND THEN CONTACT YOU with specific instructions about how to take your medications.
If you are taking ASPIRIN 81 MG as a maintenance dose, you may continue to take this.

5 days before your procedure – DO NOT TAKE IRON PILLS OR MULTIVITAMINS. DO NOT EAT POPCORN, NUTS OR OTHER SEEDS
We use four (4) different preps for a colonoscopy – please find the name of your prep and follow the instructions listed here. Do not follow the instructions on the box from the Pharmacy.

AFTER SEDATION WITH ANY PROCEDURE
No Driving or operating Heavy Machinery for 24 hours.
Do Not Make any Legal Decisions or sign any legal documents for 24 hours
You will not be able to return to work until the morning after your procedure.
If you experience any of the following symptoms, please contact the office immediately at (606) 677-2913. If the office is closed, contact, contact the Hospital operator at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital and they will page our physician on call (606) 679-7441
All Biopsy results will be available in 7-14 days after the procedure and will be discussed at your follow up appointment in our office, unless your physician instructs you otherwise.
